I love to eat.
Pasta, japanese food, French cuisine, you name it.
But, my all time favourite was Seafood. Nothing beats a fresh crab that brings you the salty taste and aroma from the sea. However, not much place could provide such delicacy, not to mention most place only selling small size of crab that I will probably need to eat 2~3 of it before I could satisfy my greedy stomach. Wait, did I mentioned size matters?
Early this month, we (my love and me) went to a Thai Barbecue restaraunt located at Taman Cahaya, a rather small area in Ampang. This was actually not our first time here, but the first time I’m making a review on the food here since it taste very very very good. Or, should I say, it deserved to be reviewed and get some publicity around the net?
If my memory serves my right, this restaurant at least had operated for more than 5 years, which I think might be around 10 years. Everyday, the restaurant will get crowded and you will have wait during peak hours, which is around 7pm~9pm (dinner time). The condition are worse during weekends, where it will be full as soon as 6.30pm until 10pm. You could probably imagine the taste of the food now.
We went there on Saturday, and to avoid the crowd, I pick the best non-crowded time, 6pm (which is the starting operating hour of the restaurant). We already quite familiar with the food around here, so we did a quick pick on the dishes : seafood fried rice, chili fried clams, barbecue squid and the almighty barbecue crabs.
The first dish was seafood fried rice. The rice are fried with egg till yellowish color and garnished with parsley and few big pieces of prawn. The rice emits salty aroma and taste very good when eaten; the rice are not sticky and brings deep taste of “salt fish” (咸鱼). RM5.00 per plate. Highly recommended.
Next, chili fried clams. The taste are similar to asam fish head, but a bit more heavy on the chili aroma. But don’t be cheated, it doesn’t taste hot, only some mild chili taste. Suitable for all folks. RM9.00 per plate.
Third dish was the BBQ squid. This was my third favourite here (First = Crab, Second = Fried Rice). I believe there is no extra seasoning on it, only salt and then barbecue until the picture you see above. =] I love the taste of it; the fresh taste from the sea! RM12.00 per plate. High recommended, although a bit expensive (and sometimes the size vary from time to time.. I’m lucky to get that bulky plate.).
Finally… the hero has come!
Oh, mighty crab, with your strong shell and big claws, you could tear off the huge army of… ants? Anyway, here is the main dish: Barbecue Crab. No additional seasoning, only pure barbecue till the crabs are ready to eat. We ordered for 2 BBQ crabs, which weights less than 1.5Kg..
Could you see that? No?
Still dunno what I’m talking about?
OMGWTFBBQ!! The thick thick crab eggs! My eyes dropping tears as soon as I put it into my mouth! =] Again, the freshness of sea water! I’m impressed by the tasty BBQ very much. The crab taste awesome. Wait, I think I’m going to repeat several times.
The crab taste awesome.
The crab taste awesome.
The crab taste awesome.
Opss… time to stop the stupid babbling. =P
Anyway, dinner cost around RM90, a bit expensive comparing to a standard seafood restaurant. But, believe me, every penny you spend here are worth it. I mean it. So, go get ready for the seafood attack for the coming weekends with your family, friends or beloved ones.
